Rust Removal

TC-11 has the unique ability to soften rust without affecting rubber, paint or plastic.

This means that TC-11 can be used to remove rust without concern about affecting the rubber, plastic, and paint on the item. TC-11 can bring old tools, vehicles and equipment "back to life".

1. Apply TC-11
   
   Shake can well (4-5 times) before use. Apply a heavy film of TC-11 to the surface. TC-11 immediately softens the rust.
   
   

2. Remove Rust
    

   Scrub the surface to loosen the rust. Please use the appropriate tool for the surface you are trying to clean.

    

   • Light Deposits - use a cloth or a paper towel to wipe off the rust. Wipe down the surface until the cloth no longer removes any rust. Re-apply Tc-11 if necessary.

    

   • Medium deposits - use 0000 steel wool to remove the rust. This is the most effective procedure for items such as rusted gun, bicycle wheels, fishing gear, and tools. Wipe down the surface until the cloth no longer removes any rust. 0000 steel wool is usually used to polish varnish between coats, so it will not scratch painted surfaces. Wipe down the surface with a cloth until the cloth no longer removes any rust. Re-apply Tc-11 if necessary.

    

   • Heavy deposits - A small stainless steel wire brush works well on metal and unpainted surfaces where there is no risk or worry of scratching the surface. A large wire brush is not recommended because it does not provide enough pressure to remove heavy rust deposits. Wipe down the surface with a cloth until the cloth no longer removes any rust. Re-apply Tc-11 if necessary.
     

   • Very Heavy Deposits - a mechanical device such as a chisel or a pneumatic needle gun is required to remove very heavy deposits of rust.

   The major benefit of TC-11 is that it leaves a film in place that will prevent the rust fro re-forming.

   For non-plated or non-moving surfaces it is advisable to clean the surface with a degreasing surface cleaner and to prime and paint the surface to provide long-term protection.

   TC-11 removes rust stains from almost any surface, including fiberglass, marble, porcelain. TC-11 will not affect the underlying surface.

   TC-11 also removes concrete that has set for less than 48 hours.
